HC quashes MCOCA applied on Gawli in extortion case
Mumbai, July 27 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today quashed application of Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime(MCOCA) again on don-turned-politician Arun Gawli.
A division bench comprising Justices J N Patel and R H Dalvi quashed MCOCA application while staying the same order for six weeks to enable the state government to file its appeal in the appex court. The court has also quashed the two FIRS filed by the police and CID respectively.
It may be recalled that Gawli had been accused in an extortion case by builder Shakeel Qureshi for interfering in a dispute between himself and his partener Rajendra Doshi.
Following this extortion case, Joint Commissioner of Police Meera Borwankar had applied MCOCA on Gawli.
