HC disposea PIL after Thane traffic diverted for safety
Mumbai, July 26 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today disposed a public interest litigation after the Thane Municipal Corporation, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), City Engineer (TMC), Deputy Superintendent of Police and the Collector told the court that the traffic moving from the Kelva Beach to Meenatai Thackeray Chowk had been diverted from outside the residential area of the main city.
A division bench comprising Justices R M Lodha and N H Patil, while hearing the PIL filed by Fais Ahmed Shaikh, alleging that during the last one-and-half-years, more than 81 fatal accidents and many casualties had happened due to traffic.
The roads had now been diverted from Navi Mumbai to Old Agra Road within three weeks of the PIL being filed.
