'Govt will consider increasing grant to Wakf Board'
Kochi, July 27 (UNI) Kerala Minister for Local Self-Government Paloli Mohammedkutty today said the state government will consider increasing administrative grant to the Wakf Board and urged the Board to extend its social actvities to more people.
The governement will consider increasing the grant in view of the mounting administration expenses, the minister said while addressing a gathering after inaugurating the new building of the Wakf Board here.
Even though the minister praised the activities of the Wakf Board, he said the council was duty bound to extend services to a larger mass.
The Board is planning to create a revolving fund to provide education to underprivileged children in the society, Board Chairman Syed Umerali Shihab Thangal said.
The new building of the Board was completed within three years at an estimated cost of Rs 1.2 crore.
The Wakf Board, founded in 1960 with its headquarters here, is engaged in numerous social welfare activities.
