Govt admits failure of GSLV-FO2 in Rajya Sabha

New Delhi, July 27: The Government today admitted in Rajya Sabha that the launch of GSLV-FO2 ended in failure on July 10, 2006.

Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Prithviraj Chavan said the reasons for failure were under investigation by an expert Failure Analysis Committee (FAC) set up by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

Mr Chavan further said a FAC has been set up with experts from ISRO, academia and national research laboratory to ascertain the reasons for failure.

The Committee is expected to submit its findings within one month, he added.

Replying to another question, Mr Chavan said that Landsat Agency of America or Spot of France have not bought images and data taken through Indian Remote Sensing Satellites of the Antrix Corporation.

The Minister denied that the Government have made any agreement to avoid the misuse of these pictures during the delivery of these pictures to the foreign agencies.
