Godmother's son Karan remanded to custody till Aug 10

Mumbai, July 27 (UNI) A local court today remanded Karan Jadeja, son of former MLA Santokben Jadeja widely known as 'Godmother' of Porbandar, to police custody till August 10 in connection with the murder of his sister-in-law Rekha Kandal Jadeja (32) here.

The order was passed by Metropolitan Magistrate S Y Sishoday.

Acting on a tip-off the Mumbai Police arrested Karan from the eastern suburb of Kurla last night and they also seized a car, six SIM cards, one revolver and few cartridges.

Karan was wanted by the Gujarat Police in the Rekha murder case, besides several other cases. He was on the run after the murder of his sister-in-law. Rekha was married to Karan's elder brother Kandal in 1992. Police suspect the involvement of Karan due to a property dispute between the brothers.

Meanwhile, Kandal is behind the bars in connection with the murder of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) councillor Keshubhai Odedera, who was killed by him to avenge the murder of his father late Sarvan Munja.

In the same case, Rekha also had to go to jail for a brief period, though she was never involved in any gang activites.

Rekha was shot outside her home in Rajkot by some unidentified persons, in which bullets fatally hit her left hand, neck, chest and intestine. She has two children Aditi (7) and Raj (3).
