Firing to disperse mob in Surendranagar
Rajkot, July 27: At least six rounds were fired in the air by police to disperse the agitated mob which indulged in stone-pelting at Jorawarnagar police station in Surendranagar district.
Sources said the trouble erupted when police refused to handover an accused to the mob.
The accused, Kanubha Dhirubha Rajput, had allegedly kidnapped a five-year-old girl of one Iqbalbhai from Jasapar village yesterday.
Following the incident Iqbalbhai registered a complaint at the Jorawarnagar police station. And within few hours of kidnapping, the police nabbed Rajput along with kidnapped girl.
When Iqbalbhai and his associates learnt about the arrest, they rushed to the police station and demanded that he should be handed over to them.
However, when the police refused to do so, the assembled mob started pelting stones inflicting injuries to a Police Inspector and two constables.
