Eight ITIs upgraded in Punjab
Chandigarh, July 27 (UNI) The Punjab Government has upgraded eight industrial training institutes (ITIs) to centres of excellence to meet the skill requirement in the manufacturing and servicing sectors in respect of automobiles, electrical, production, refrigeration and air conditioning, fabrication, apparel and information technology.
Disclosing this here today, Minister for Industrial Training and Science and Technology Rakesh Pandey said that up-gradation of ITIs was done by the Department of Industrial Training with the assistance of Union Ministry of Labour and Employment.
Courses in these ITIs would be aimed at providing multi-skill training on modular pattern in three stages. The basic training regarding the courses would be imparted for one year in the first stage while advance training would be given for 6 months in the second stage. At the third stage specialised training would be imparted in the industry for six months, Mr Pandey added.
He said that admissions to the centers of excellence would be made purely on merit basis.
