ECNR seal done away with by MEA

Bangalore, July 27 (UNI) The Ministry of External Affairs has done away with the 'Emigration Check Not Required' seal affixed on passports, Regional Passport Officer P Kulkarni informed today.

In an official release here, he said that henceforth 'Emigration Check Required' seal would be affixed only in cases where the applicants were not eligible for emigration clearance.

If the passport did not contain any emigration seal, it was deemed that such passport holders have been given emigration clearance. The immigration authorities at the airports have been suitably informed by the Ministry, the release said.
