e-Suvidha: UP takes giant leap in e-governance
Lucknow, July 27 (UNI) Taking a giant leap towards e-governance in Uttar Pradesh, the state government today signed an agreement with CMS Computers Limited for launching e-Suvidha project in the state capital from next month.
State IT and power department officials signed the agreement with CMS in presence of state chief secretary N C Bajpai.
Under the first phase, e-Suvidha would be launched in the state capital on August 8 to give consumers additional facilities to pay their electricity bills in over 32 centres.
Mr Bajpai said e-Suvidha would provide 'Total Solution Based Package' comprising hardware, software and connectivity for deployment, customisation and successful implementation of e-Suvidha on build-own-maintain-transfer (BOMT) financial model basis.
''Consumer will not have to pay anything for the service rendered through e-Suvidha,'' he added.
Under the first phase, eight departments -- LESA, BSNL, Nagar Nigam, LDA, Jal Sansthan, RTO and UPSRTC -- would be taken up while in the second phase, DM office, SSP office, CDO office, Passport office, UP tourism, Indian Raiways, Stamps and Registration and Trade Tax departments would join e-Suvidha.
CMS magining director Ramesh Grover said his company was expert in providing e-governance in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnatak, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
He said the company has invested Rs 5 crore for launching the e-Suvidha.
Meanwhile, UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) chairman Ashok Khurana said LESA would pay around Rs 10-12 lakh per month to CMS for collecting electricity bills through e-suvidha.
Sources said CMS would be recieving Rs 5.25 per transaction made by any consumer through e-suvidha paid fully by the concerned department or the state government.
