DMs directed to prevent illegal use of land

Allahabad, July 27 (UNI) Allahabad High Court has directed all the DMs to take effective steps as not to permit any person to illegally occupy or make any construction over the land mentioned as forest, pond, water channel, riverbed and water reservoirs on the date of vesting.

The order was passed by Justice S N Srivastava on a writ petition filed by Iqbal Ahmad and others.

The court has directed all the DMs to establish a cell in each district to look after this kind of affairs under their supervision.

The state government may also issue pre-emptory directions to all the DMs to take such effective steps in this regard.

The court directed to list the case on October 4, 2006 for monitoring the compliance of the order in terms of the directions as above.

The court further directed that all the DMs shall get complete reports prepared through tehsil authorities after receiving the report from lekhpals.
