Dasmunsi confident that Left will not bring anti-deal resolution
New Delhi, July 27 (UNI) Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi today expressed confidence that the Left Parties would not bring forward a resolution opposing the Indo-US Nuclear deal.
''After Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's statement in Rajya Sabha on the issue and the government's categorical assurance that it would take the House into confidence in the event of any change in the deal, there was no need for any such resolution,'' he told mediapersons here.
Earlier the Left had threatened to bring a resolution seeking an assurance from the government that it would abide by the commitments made in the Parliament after signing the deal.
CPI Leader Gurudas Dasgupta, giving an indication of softening of the Left on the issue, said that the PM should make a statement clearing the doubts and misgivings arising out of the passing of the Indo-US Nuclear Bill by the US Congress.
