New Delhi, July 27 (UNI) The Tejendra Khanna Committee has recommended reasonable compounding fee imposed for extra coverage of floor area and a severer scale of penalty/special compunding fee imposed for violation of height restrictions and building of additional floors in the city.

Union Minister for Urban Development Ajay Maken told Rajya Sabha that the committee, which was appointed to look into various matters relating to unauthorised constructions and misuse of premises in the city, among other things also recommended a differential approach to the mixed use policy.

After considering the recommendations of the committee, which submitted its report on May 13, the government asked the Delhi Development Authority to issue a public notice inviting objections and suggestions for the public to proposed modification, on the basis of the recommendations, of the development control norms for residential plotted development in the Delhi Master Plan 2001 and revision in the mixed use regulation.

DDA issued the the public notice on July 21.

On the question as to when the regularisation process was likely to begin, he said approval of additional floor area or additional floor or part thereof in terms of such modified norms was attendant upon completion of the statutory process for amendment of the Master Plan.

The reply came in response to a question raised by Mr Lalit Suri.
