Consumer forums slap fine on insurance company

Nawada, Jul 27 (UNI) Consumer Protection Forum today ordered an insurance company to pay over Rs five lakhs for not providing proper services to a complainant.

In its order, the forum directed the company to make the payments within 30 days.

As per the case, one Brijnandan Prasad had opted for an insurance policy of Rs five lakhs under GTFS from the company on June 1, 2002.

Mr Prasad was killed on July 2, 2003. But the company did not pay the insurance amount to the nominee following which the kith and kin of Mr Prasad filed a petition in the forum.
