Call centre employee's colleague confesses to committing murder
Bangalore, July 27 (UNI) The colleague of call centre employee Tania Banerjee, who was found brutally murdered on the highway near Sakleshpur in Hassan district of Karnataka yesterday, has confessed to have committed the murder.
City Police Commissioner N Achyuta Rao told UNI that the accused, Kishore Gururaj (27), was arrested in the city last night and taken to the forest area in Shiradi Ghat where the body was found with multiple stab wounds.
''The arrested has confessed that he had committed the heinous crime at the spur of the moment following an emotional argument. At present, the case is being handled by the Hassan Police. It would be transferred to the city police shortly,'' he said.
Gururaj had been allegedly close to Tania for the last two years, though they were not married. There was some misunderstanding between the two of late and she was trying to shun the relationship.
The 32-year-old Tania, hailing from West Bengal, was a trainee employee of the city-based AVIVA Customer Operational Services near Whitefield, on the outskirts of the city. She had joined the firm in June. After attending training sessions during the day on July 24, she had left for home late in the evening. The next morning, her body was sighted with at least 32 stab injuries.
Tania was the daughter of a retired railway employee living near Howrah in West Bengal. She had been working in different places in Bangalore for the past four years. She was staying as a paying guest in a house in Frazer town here and used to commute to work in the office van.
