Bulgaria to hold presidential elections on Oct 22
SOFIA, July 27: Bulgaria's parliament voted today to hold presidential elections on October 22.
Major political parties in Bulgaria, which hopes to join the European Union next year, have not yet officially nominated their candidates for the post, which has mainly ceremonial powers.
Analysts say President Georgi Parvanov, 49, has a good chance of winning a second five-year term. His current term expires in January 2007.
