Austrialian air Express joins IBS' iCargo initiative
Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 27 (UNI) Australian air Express, a premier Express Air Freight Service in Australia, has joined the Core Group of Influence (CGI) Forum, set up by IT software major IBS software services, in the development of next generation air cargo and ligistics management system, ''iCargo.'' Australia air Express becomes the fifth member of the CGI Forum, which currently includes Air New Zealand Cargo, Gulf Air, South African Airways Cargo and Qantas Freight, an IBS release said today.
The system, embarked by the IBS softwar services in 2003, was a new generation design using the latest web-based tools and multi-tiered architecure. It would also be a catalyst for change for cargo carriers within the logistics industry, it said.
The iCargo would also enable the airlines, ground handlers and freight forwarders to enhance cargo business profitably and respond rapidly to changing market conditions.
The first release of iCargo was made in December 2005 and this addresses the core processes of cargo reservations, capacity control, rating, load planning and consignment tacking, the release said adding that cargo terminal operations and ground handling requirements would be made available in the second release later this year.
