Arguments on Self-Financing Act begin in Kerala HC
Kochi, July 27 (UNI) The arguments of the Kerala Government and the self-financing college managements started today before a divison bench of the state high court.
The arguments were inconclusive when the bench rose for the day and will continue tomorrow.
Senior Counsel C S Vaidyanathan and Advocate General Sudhakara Prasad argued on behalf of the State Government as former Solicitor General T R Antahyarujina commenced the argument for the managements.
The State Government contented that since the single bench judge did not stay the 2006 Act, the interim arrangements directed by the single judge were not justifiable. To this, the managements submitted that equity and balance of convenience justified the order of July 18.
Though all the cases relating to the consititutional validity of the Self-Financing College Regulation Act, 2006, were posted before the division bench, comprising Chief Justice V K Bali and Justice M Ramachandran, for final hearing, the court suggested to address the arguments limiting to the interim arrangement for this year in view of the urgency of the matter.
After the conclusion of the arguments tommorrow, interim orders from the division bench are expected in the matter.
