Anwar rules out possibility of NCP merging with Congress.
Dehra Dun, July 27 (UNI) National General Secretary of Nationalist Congress Party Tariq Anwar today ruled out any posibility of the party merging with the Congress.
Mr Anwar addressing a press conference on the sideline of his visit to Dehradun to review the arrangements for the forthcoming National Convention of the NCP to be held here on September 16 and 17, said NCP has emerged as one of the six national political parties with its MLAs in 15 states and government in two states. '' There is no possibility of NCP merging with the Congress in near future specially when there is trend of coalition governments,'' he asserted. He said NCP in Uttarachal has been progressing well and hoped to get better with time.
'' In the last Assembly election NCP managed to grab one seat and put up tough fight in 3 seats,'' he said adding the NCP would tie up with other like minded secular parties to present an alternative. He said the people have seen the performances of both Congress and BJP government and were looking for a better alternative. ''NCP will prove itself a best alternative for the people of Uttaranchal,'' he claimed.
