About 5 lakh Bank employees to boycott work tomorrow
New Delhi, July 27 (UNI) Employees of the almost all banks, except the State Bank of India, its associates Bank of Baroda and Indian Overseas Bank, will boycott work across the country tomorrow.
The strike, called by the All India Bank Employees' Association (AIBEA), All India Bank Officers' Association (AIBOA) and Bank Employees' Federation of India (BEFI), is being held in protest against RBI circular on outsourcing bank jobs, privatisation of clearing departments and merger of banks.
The Unions are also demanding recruitment in banks inplace of outsourcing, filling of nearly 100,000 vacant posts through proper recruitment policy in public sector banks and expeditious extension of one more pension option for retired Bank employees among other issues.
AIBEA Delhi General Secretary Ramamand said about five lakh employees will participate in the strike.
''All major banks, except the State Bank of India, will not be functioning tomorrow...,'' he added.
As part of the day-long strike, third this year, sit-ins and demonstrations would be held in front of all bank branches across the country.
