915 arrested in anti-piracy raids across Asia-Pacific
New Delhi, July 27 (UNI) More than 900 persons from 12 countries were arrested in raids by enforcement authorities in its anti-piracy drive across Asia-Pacific region.
In the raids which led to the seizure of more than 6.7 million pirated optical discs and optical disc burners, 915 persons were arrested, according to a release by the Motion Picture Association.
Of the total 1,919 raids conducted across the Asia-Pacific region under 'Operation Red Card', the maximum were in China (405) followed by Indonesia, India and Hong Kong.
The aim of the raids, conducted between early May and mid-July, was to protect the movie industry and legitimate home video products, said the MPA.
