500 Pak ziyarins to attend Ajmer Urs

Jaipur, July 27 (UNI) Around 500 Pakistani ziyarins are expected to attend the annual Urs at Ajmer Sharif this year.

Ajmer's district administration and intelligence agencies have received information in this regard.

The administration is gearing up to accommodate the Pakistani ziyarins at Central Girls Senior Secondary School in Ajmer.

Meanwhile, the railways will be running a special train for Pakistani ziyarins. The train between Delhi and Ajmer will leave Delhi at 2345 hrs on July 29 and reach Ajmer at 0945 hrs the next day.

There are other special trains for Muslim devotees to reach Ajmer from Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Sarai Rohilla in Delhi.

Railway Minister Lalu Prasad will inspect the facilities provided for ziyarins at Ajmer today and will travel by the special train to Ajmer from Delhi.

However according to sources here, the recent Mumbai blasts seemed to have affected the number of ziyarins arriving here this year.

This year the ziyarins are not coming with their families but instead are arriving alone for ziyarat on the occasion of Urs.

Sources say the fear of crowds and terrorist strike at the dargah are perhaps the reason for lesser number of ziyarins this year.

Meanwhile, the Khadims shut down the main entrance of the dargah yesterday for an hour after a scuffle with members of the Dargah committee over the anti-encroachment drive around the dargah premises.

The heated scuffle resulted in a chaos as panicky devotees ran helter-skelter. Later the shops shut down.

Later, the police and administration officials pacified the khadims who agreed to open the entrance door.
