35 children take ill after eating sweets on Uddhav's b'day

Mumbai, July 27 (UNI) At least 35 school children were admitted to hospital as they started vomitting after eating chocolates, biscuits and other sweets distributed on the occasion of the 46th birthday of Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray.

Local Sena leader and MLC Vilas Avachat told UNI, that a Shiv Sena branch had organised a programme of distributing sweets to the children studying from nursery to fourth standard of Union school, Girgaon in South Mumbai this morning.

He further said after receiving complaints that the students had taken ill, they were immediately admitted to the nearby Harkisandas hospital.

Police have confirmed the incident and said two persons have been detained in this connection, while further investigation is on.
