Varanasi blasts: Mastermind charge-sheeted for Cantt station blast
Varanasi, July 26 (UNI) The Government Railway Police (GRP) today filed charge-sheet in the Chief Judicial Magistrate court here, against Waliullah -- the mastermind of the March seven blast at the Varanasi Cantonment railway station.
A similar charge-sheet was filed against six accused including Waliullah, in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate P N Srivastava on July 18, by district police in the March Seven blast at the Sankatmochan temple blast case and recovery of cooker-borne explosive in Dwashashamedh case.
The GRP has framed charges against Waliullah under various sections of Indian Penal Code and Explosive Substance Act. In its submission, the GRP had also stated that investigations against the other five accused in the case was underway.
The six accused included the mastermind Waliullah, presently in judicial custody in Varanasi, who was arrested in first week of April from Phoolpur (Allahabad).
The remaining accused included three Bangaladeshi nationals and one from neighbouring Chandauli district, who all were still at large. The sixth accused Mohd Jubair was eliminated by the Special Task Force of Uttar Pradesh Police on the outskirts of Lucknow early on March eight morning.
The Uttar Pradesh government has also permitted that the mastermind of the twin blasts be tried for sedition.
At least 18 people were killed and over 100 others wounded in the twin blasts that rocked the Sankatmochan temple and Varanasi Cantt railway station within a span of 15 minutes on March Seven evening.
