Two Army jawans arrested for links with LeT
Jammu, July 26 (uni) Two jawans of 26 division of Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JKLI) arrested for their alleged link with Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Toiba militants outfit; have been handed over to the Military Intelligence Wing for interrogation, official sources said today.
The jawans Lance Naik Mohammad Shakeel and Sepoy Abdul Haq, resident of Gursai area of Mendhar tehsil in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, were arrested at Mendhar area on Saturday by police when they were on their way to 9 corps headquarter at YOL camp near Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh to resume their duty after the vacation.
It is believed that both have links with let divisional commander Abu Osama in the Mendhar area. The alleged link with the divisional commander of LeT surfaced during the sustained questioning of two police constables Sikander Azam and Kabir who were arrested on the information divulged by arrested LeT militants Noor Illahi Alian Tipu, Mohammed Farroq, Mohammad Yaqub, Irfan and Saddam Hussain of the outfit, involved in a conspiracy to carry out attacks on tourists at Bhatindi and grenade attacks at Jammu bus stand.
According to sources, both the jawans have earlier served in counter insurgent force 8 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) in Kulgam area of South Kashmir. It is being ascertained what role they played for the LeT in Poonch and Jammu areas while serving in the Army.
