Toyota Kirloskar Motor distributes books/bags to 2000 children

Bangalore, July 26 (UNI) Toyota Kirloskar Motor today contributed books and bags to more than 2000 school children as part of its ongoing efforts to serve the local community.

This was the fourth successive year Toyota was providing support to school children to further the cause of education, the company said in a release here. Students from 30 schools were provided necessary books and notebooks.

Mr A R Shankar, General Manager, Corporate Planning Division, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, handed over the books and bags to the local school children in the presence of Mr Panduranga, Block Education Officer, Ramanagaram Taluk and other invited school teachers and guests.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor commenced this programme in 2003. The institutions to which the contributions were made were Government schools. They had been identified by the Block Education Officer as being 'need based' wherein majority of the students were from economically underprivileged families. This year, more than 15,000 notebooks were being distributed to the identified schools.

The company had also contributed more than 60 computers to government schools in Ramanagaram Taluk. It had also provided relevant training to the teachers of these schools and undertaken periodical maintenance of computers as well.

It has also signed an MoU with Bangalore University for the promotion of Japanese Language.
