Telecom Service providers to set up Ombudsman

New Delhi, July 26 (UNI) The Government today told the Lok Sabha that it does not propose to appoint an Ombudsman for the telecom sector, but indicated that Industry was keen that such an Institution be set up for settling grievances and disputes of subscribers.

''No limit can be given by the government for this industry initiative,'' Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology Shakeel Ahmad said in a written reply.

The industry has pro-actively announced that it intends to set up a telecommunication sector Ombudsman to address the problems of the customers.
