Stress on inter-religion, inter-caste marriages in UP
Lucknow, July 26 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government is giving stress on encouraging inter-religion and inter-caste marriages to promote national integration and communal harmony.
All the District Magistrates (DMs) have been directed to make ''special efforts'' in this regard.
State National Integration secretary Avinash Kumar Srivastava said here, that the DMs have been asked to give due emphasis towards the implementation of departmental schemes and projects.
''We will ensure that the funds allocated in the current fiscal year for various projects are fully utilised. In December, the department will also raise demand for supplementary budget,'' he informed.
The DMs have been given instructions to propogate economic gains arising out of the schemes in their respective districts and keep close watch on the progress being made.
Last financial year, the entire budget allocated to department could not be utilised due to lack of publicity. Several applications for inter-religion and inter-caste marriages were also rejected following official anomalies.
