Stop reservation benefits to same families: Apna Dal

Kanpur, July 26 (UNI) Apna Dal today suggested one time benefit to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Castes and adherence to the 'creamy layer formula' to provide benefits to the needy.

Talking to mediapersons here, Dal president Sonelal Patel said those families, who had already received reservation benefits, should be debarred from future benefits.

''The 'creamy layer formula' should be worked out to extend the benefits to other poverty stricken families belonging to SC, ST and OBCs. This way, majority of such families will receive benefits,'' he said adding, only influential families in these segments were enjoying reservation benefits.

Mr Patel also demanded equal education to all, irrespective of poor and rich classes. ''If such system is adopted, the demands of reservation for SC, ST and OBC will automatically stop.'' In reply to a question, he said Janata Dal (United) and Apna Dal would jointly fight ''booth capturings'' resorted to by the ruling Samajwadi Party, BSP and Congress.

''We are in contact with several other smaller parties in UP to contest the 2007 assembly elections under one umbrella and to check the division of votes.'' UNI KSP VS PK BD2015
