Stern steps will be taken to prevent custodial deaths: CM

Thiruvananthapuram, July 26 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today said stringent action would be taken against police personnel found guilty in custodial deaths.

Briefing newspersons here, the Chief Minister said the government would take serious steps to contain custodial violence.

Referring to the recent custodial deaths, he said strong action would be initiated against the guilty so that such incidents would not recur in the future.

The Government also announced financial assistance of Rs 50,000 each to the families of four labourers killed in a building which collapsed in Ponnani.
