SIMI activist nabbed
Ujjain, MP, July 26 (UNI) A Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) activist has been arrested here and objectionable literature seized from him.
''On a tip-off, police raided a house at Madarget area and arrested Mohammad Akil yesterday night. Twenty-five objectionable books were seized from his possession,'' said Superintendent of Police Jaideep Prasad.
Based on Mohammed Akil's confession, cases were registered against Mohammed Shafi, Rajasthan's Kota-resident M N Naim, who is editor of SIMI's magazine 'Tahrir', and Indore-resident Imran.
The three accused were absconding.
Meanwhile, Khandwa police has claimed that two SIMI functionaries were arrested in Ujjain, including Mohammed Shafi.
A SIMI activist, Imran Ansari, was arrested in the state capital few days back.
