Sensex opens 50 points in the green

Mumbai, July 26 (UNI) The BSE sensitive index today opened 50 points in the green on account of strong global rally, however, it soon tripped to a low of 10,362 as the July futures contract comes to an end tomorrow (July 27).

The sensex opened at 10,465.34 compared to the previous close of 10,415.61.

All the sectoral indices except the Banking sector were in the green.

The Banking sector seems to be having a late impact of the interest rate hike. Banking is down by 0.67 per cent, whereas the smallcap leads the green pack by 1.40 per cent.

Major losers are ICICI, HDFC, ONGC, SBI, Satyam Computers and NTPC, all down between 0.05 to 1.50 per cent.

The gainers are Hindalco, Tata Motors, Maruti, Reliance Communications, Infosys, Cipla and ITC all up between 1.21 to 2.60 per cent.
