Re strong by 3 paise, closes at Rs 46.79/80/USD

Mumbai, Jul 26: Indian Rupee today grew strong by three paise at Rs 46.79/80 per US Dollar compared to the previous close of Rs 46.83 per US Dollar, a trader in the money market said.

Rupee earlier opened at Rs 46.88/90 per US Dollar and in the mid- morning session traded at 46.86/88/US Dollar.

RBI today fixed the Reference Rate at Rs 46.85/US Dollar compared to the previous rate of 46.81 per US Dollar.

The six month forward premia was up at 1.04 per cent and the one year forward premia was also up at 1.17 per cent.

Rupee performed well against other currencies too except against euro where it was down at Rs 58.85 (59.14), however against pound sterling it was up at Rs 86.02 (86.52) and against yen it was up at Rs 40.00 (40.09).
