Report on ''affirmative action'' to be preseneted on July 28

New Delhi, July 26 (UNI) The joint report of apex industry chambers CII and Assocham on ''affirmative action'' -- as desired by the government -- for the greater inclusion of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in industry, will be presented on July 28.

The report, made by a task force under the chairmanship of Dr J J Irani, includes the fundamental beliefs underlying the recommendations, the principles on which the action plan is formulated, and a clear defined set of actions to be taken by CII, Assocham and their members for greater inclusion and representation of SCs and STs in industry.

The Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, during CII's AGM in April 2006, had called for ''affirmative action'' in a voluntary manner from industry in order to build an inclusive society.
