Hindu temple demolished in Malaysia: Govt
New Delhi, July 26: A sixty-year-old Hindu temple has been demolished in Malaysia, the Government today stated in the Lok Sabha. In a written reply, Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed said the demolition by the Municipal Corporation of Kuala Lumpur took place on June 8.
He said the authorities concerned said the temple stood on reserved land which was required for development works in the area.
The Indian community in Malaysia has been pursuing the issue with the Malaysian Government, he added.
Notices have been sent to the temple authorities to relocate it but they refuse to accept the alternative plot offered.
However, the Government did not divulge any information whether the land was purchased by the temple authorities or not.
