Real make fresh offer for Van Nistelrooy

MADRID, July 26 (Reuters) Real Madrid have made a new offer for Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy after Manchester United rejected a bid last week.

''The club have made a new offer and are waiting for reply from Manchester,'' a Real spokesman said today.

The 30-year-old Van Nistelrooy is at the centre of a tug-of-war between Real and Bayern Munich, after he said he wanted to leave Old Trafford after five years in England.

Spanish media report that Real have bid 15 million euros.

The Netherlands striker, who joined United for a then British record of 19 million pounds (34.73 million dollars) in 2001, had a disappointing end to the 2005/06 season in which he was dropped by manager Alex Ferguson.

However, when asked if there had been any change in Van Nistelrooy's situation today, Ferguson told Sky Sports TV: ''None at all. At this moment in time, without question (he's still a United player).

''He trained well yesterday. He had a good attitude to his training, which is good, therefore he's a United player.'' REUTERS DH PC1652
