PWD Minister calls Sourav 'an opportunist'

Kolkata, July 26 (UNI) With the Left Front split wide open on their preferences about CAB president, just four days before the polls West Bengal PWD Minister Kshiti Goswami today called former India captain Sourav Ganguly ''an opportunist.'' Speaking to the media on the sidelines of a programme organised by Merchant Chamber of Commerce here, CAB member Mr Goswami said, ''It is because of (Jagmohan) Dalmiya that Sourav has become Sourav Ganguly.'' When asked about the recent controversy over Sourav's e-mail, the RSP heavyweight said it has no purpose and the timing was just not right.

''Sourav should have raised the matter when he was not taken in the team,'' Mr Goswami said.

On whether he would react to the interference of the state government in the CAB polls, he said, ''Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee took personal interest in the matter and said the incumbent CAB president Jagmohan Dalmiya should not fight the polls.

The Left Front has nothing to do with it.'' Recently Sports Minister Subhas Chakraborty had said that Sourav Ganguly no longer needed Jagmohan Dalmiya, so he had passed these comments against him.

Mr Chakraborty had also indicated that Sourav was 'using all means' to stage a comeback and use Jagmohan Dalmiya as a pawn for his return to light from the cold wilderness of county and domestic cricket.
