Poor quality rice supplied under free rice scheme: AIADMK

Pondicherry, Jul 26 (UNI) AIADMK state secretary A Anbazhagan, MLA, today strongly criticised the territorial administration for providing sub-standard rice to the people under the free rice scheme.

Addressing a press conference here, he said while most of the government schemes were being implemented to benefit the poor, Chief Minister N Rangasamy, in a bid to hide the misdeeds of his government had announced 10 kg free rice to all ration card holders irrespective of their financial status.

Instead of supplying ten kg rice to all every month, families below the poverty level could have been given 20 kg per month by removing the affleunt people from the ambit of the scheme, he added.

He alleged that free rice scheme was not being properly implemented in the Union Territory.
