Olympic discus champion Sadova banned for two years

LONDON, Aug 26 (Reuters) Olympic women's discus champion Natalya Sadova of Russia has been banned for two years after a positive test for the steroid methandienone at a meeting in Hengelo, Netherlands, on May 28.

A statement on the International Association of Athletics Federations Web site said the world governing body had been informed by the All Russia Athletic Federation (ARAF) that Sadova had committed a doping violation.

It said Sadova was banned from competition until July 6, 2008 and all her results since May 28 this year had been annulled.

The 34-year-old Sadova was stripped of her 2001 world title and received a public warning after testing positive for excessive amounts of the stimulant caffeine, which at that time was on the banned list.
