Nitish asks JD(U) workers to monitor execution of schemes
Patna, July 26 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister and senior JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar today asked the party workers to monitor the execution of welfare schemes to ensure the benefits percolated to the targeted groups.
Addressing a meeting of the state council of the JD(U), Mr Kumar said 50 per cent reservation extended to women in the Panchayat elections were ''historic'' and ''unique.
He said steps had been taken to remove corruption from the public distribution system through introdution of coupon system.
''People living below poverty line will be provided coupons on which they could get grains throughout the year,'' he added.
He exhorted the party workers to spread the doctrines of the party among the backward classes, oppressed sections of the society and Pasmanda Muslims.
Expressing satisfaction over the peaceful Panchayat elections, he said, ''all the newly elected members of the panchayats has started working to make the lowest level of democracy effective.'' UNI XC/DH TJP KD RS1052
