More rains in capital bring coolness, mercury down to 28.2 Deg C
New Delhi, July 26 (UNI) After yesterday's heavy showers, the rain gods again showered their bounty on Delhiites with the capital witnessing rains almost all through the day, lending coolness to the weather, today.
The showers, which began at around 0900 hours and continued right till the evening, led to a tremendous drop in the mercury with the maximum temperature plummeting to 28.2 Degree Celsius, six degrees below normal.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 27.1 Degree Celsius, the same as yesterday.
A total of 38.3 mm of rainfall was recorded till 1730 hours, the weather office said. With today's rainfall, the capital has experienced about 80 mm of rainfall since yesterday morning.
The coming days could bring more rain to the capital with the weathermen forecasting a generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain and thundershowers with the likelihood of heavy showers in some areas in the next 24 hours.
Infact the coming days could witness an increase in rainfall activity in North West India.
''The axis of monsoon trough passes through Anupgarh, Agra, Varanasi, Dhanbad, Hazaribagh, Sagar Islands and thence southeastwards.
Enhanced rainfall activity with heavy to very heavy falls is likely to continue over Western Himalayan Region, plains of northwest India and Gangetic plains in the next few days, the met office said.
