Ministers to visit AP on Palar issue
Chennai, July 26 (UNI) A Ministerial-level delegation from Tamil Nadu will visit Andhra Pradesh on August five to hold discussions with state officials on the contentious Palar Dam issue.
This was announced by Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister K Ponmudi, holding the additional charge of PWD, when Mr Gnanasekaran (Cong) pointed out that the Andhra Pradesh Government had passed an order allowing construction of a dam across the river and allotted funds for the purpose.
Intervening, Mr Ponmudi said a delegation comprising him and Local Administration Minister M K Stalin would visit Andhra Pradesh to hold discussions in connection with Krishna water issue and take up Palar Dam issue also.
To a question from the Congress member, he said the issue did not figure during the talks, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary had with Tamil Nadu Government officials a few days ago in Chennai.
Earlier, participating in the debate on the Budget, Mr Gnanasekaran urged the Tamil Nadu Government to move the Supreme Court for a stay on the order of the Andhra Pradesh Government.
Tamil Nadu contended the construction of a dam across the river Palar would affect the interests of the farmers in northern districts.
