Meghalaya govt to introduce new education policy
Shillong, Jul 26 (UNI) Meghalaya would soon formulate a new education policy, said Chief Minister J D Rymbai.
''It is high time to have a new education policy with more thrust on job-oriented courses,'' Mr Rymbai told reporters yesterday after deliberation with the Khasi Students' Union (KSU) leaders who demanded a new education policy.
Mr Rymbai said he would soon take up the matter either in the Cabinet or direct the state Education department to carry out a study.
He added that the government would also elicit public opinion while framing the new education policy.
Informing that the government intends to introduce a golden handshake retirement package for retiring teachers, Mr Rymbai,himself an educationist, said the package would be applicable to all teachers irrespective of private, ad hoc or government school.
''They will be given a one time package at the end of selfless and deicated service,'' he said.
