Man attacks wife with acid while sleeping, arrested

New Delhi, July 26 (UNI) A 21-year-old woman was severely burnt in an acid attack allegedly by her husband in Mongolpuri area of North-West Delhi.

Accused Sandeep (25), who works in an export firm, has been arrested after an SDM enquiry into yesterday's incident was conducted which found him prima facie guilty of 'attempt to murder', according to a senior police official.

Shalu, who was sleeping with her 3-year-old daughter when the acid attack took place last night, was rushed to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital with 35 per cent burn injuries.

She was later referred to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital following the magisterial enquiry and a case registered against Sandeep.

Shalu was Sandeep's second wife.
