Lights rains in capital, more rains forecast in coming days
New Delhi, July 26 (UNI) After yesterday's heavy showers, the Capital witnessed light showers this morning.
The showers, which began at around 0900 hours, maintained the coolness in the weather which had been brought about by a brief burst of heavy rains yesterday afternoon.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 27.1 Degree Celsius, the same as yesterday.
A total of 32.4 mm of rainfall was recorded till 1130 hours, the weather office said. With today's rainfall, the capital has experienced about 75 mm of rainfall since yesterday morning.
The capital could witness more rain later today and in the coming days with the weathermen forecasting a generally cloudy sky with more rain and thundershowers in the next 24 hours.
Infact the coming days could witness an increase in rainfall activity in North West India. ''The axis of monsoon trough passes through Ganganagar, Agra, Kanpur, Daltonganj, Balasore and thence southeastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal. The western end of the monsoon trough is likely to shift further northwards and cause fairly widespread rainfall along the foothills of Himalayas and adjoining Indo-Gangetic Plains during next 2-3 days with possibility of isolated heavy to very heavy falls,''the weather office said.
Given such a scenario, the weather office said isolated heavy to very heavy rains were likely over Jammu , Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, and other areas like East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh during the next few days.
