LeT linked soldiers from IR battalions, says Home Minister

New Delhi, Jul 26 (UNI) Home Minister Shivraj Patil today said the soldiers picked up for having alleged links with the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba were not from the regular army but from the IR (Indian Reserve) battalions.

''They are from the IR battalions and not from the Army'', the Home Minister said in the Rajya Sabha in his intervention during the debate on Mumbai blasts.

The IR battalions are raised by the states with the financial assistance from the Centre.
