Karnataka seeks central assistance for industrial development
New Delhi, July 26 (UNI) The Karnataka Government has sought central assistance of Rs 161.31 crore for industrial development of the state and set up automobile components clusters at Hubli and Shimoga.
A request to this effect was made by Large and Medium Industries Minister K Subramanya Naidu during his meeting with Commerce Minister Kamalnath and Heavy Industries Minister Santosh Mohan Deb. Mr Naidu said the entrepreneurs will contribute over Rs 50 crore while the state government will chip in with its contribution to complete the Rs 214.84 crore project.
Mr Deb had offered all help for the state's employment programme where one lakh rural youth would be given training in entrepreneurship with a stipend of Rs 1750 a month. The Centre will provide Rs 1000 with the balance being met by private parties offering the job training to these youths for a period of three months, six months and a year.
He said Karnataka planned to set up a Food Technology Park (FTP) in 500 acres to encourage food processing industry and the location was being identified. He had discussed the issue with Food Processing Minister Subodh Kant Sahay who had promised all help and assistance.
Answering questions on setting up of Special Economic Zones (SEZs), he said Union Commerce Minister had assured that these proposals would be cleared during August.
