IT majors recruit engineering students from campus interviews

Chennai, Jul 26 (UNI) Eight leading IT majors, including Infosys, Wipro, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and HCL Technologies have conducted campus interviews in RMK and RMD Self Financing Engineering Colleges and recruited 328 students of current final year batch.

While TCS recruited 100 students, Wipro recruited 94, Infosys-42, Satyam-30, Caritor-19, HCL-19, Tech Mahindra-nine, Syntel, HP-seven and Polaris four each, a college release here said.

Managed by Lakshmikanthammal Educational Trust, RMK and RMD Engineering colleges have organised the campus interview for about 425 of its students, representing the departments of Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communications, Electronics and Instrumentation, Mechanical and MCA.

The selected 328 students were offered suitable jobs with the average salary of Rs 2.5 lakhs per annum, the release said.

R S Munirathinam, Founder-Chairman of the two colleges, commeting on the success in campus recruitment, said the current boom in IT and the management's initiatives to promote the employability of the graduating students have helped the colleges to register a high per centage placements in reputed organisations.

Mr Munirathinam said both the colleges have spent more than Rs 30 lakh to impart training in soft skills and personality development of the students.

The colleges have associated themselves closely with several IT organisations for collaborative projects that resulted in enhanced reputation, he said, adding RMK had recently entered into a joint venture with CISCO India to offer certified Cisco network administrator programme for the students.
