Indian leaders in Kathmandu to support democracy
Kathmandu, July 26 (UNI) A 22-member multi-party Indian delegation led by General Secretary of National Congress Party, Devi Prasad Tripathi, arrived here this evening.
The delegation, on a mission to spread Mahatma Gandhi's message of peace and non-violence in Nepal, was welcomed by the leaders of Seven Partie Alliance(SPA) at the Thankot Checkpost.
''The journey also aims to build up pressure on governments to develop an alliance between two countries that respects the spirit of the people of both countries,'' Mr Tripathi told mediapersons today.
The delegates are to present a special memento sent to PM Koirala by Former Indian Prime Minister Chandrashekar, underscoring the social ties between the two neighbours.
President of Nepali Congress (Democratic )Sher Bahadur Deuba will organise welcome programme for the leaders this evening.
The team comprises Shivaraj Singh of Janta Dal United, Pankaj Chaudhary of Bharatiya Janata Party, senior journalist Ananda Swarup Verma, among others. Bichar Nyas of India organised the tour.
