ICICI Bank gets ISO 27001 certification for GTSU
Mumbai, Jul 26: The Global Trade Services Unit (GTSU) of ICICI Bank has been certified as the ISO 27001 unit.
ICICI Bank said the Bank's GTSU is the first unit of any bank in India with this certification. Globally, around eight such certifications have been awarded to banks or financial institutions.
ISO 27001 is International Standard on Information Security Management System, which emphasises more focus on Risk Assessment (Assets, Vulnerability&Threats), Disaster Recovery preparedness, Measurement Tools of Controls and others.
ICICI Bank GTSU was also the first unit of any bank in India to be certified with BS 7799, the British Standard of Information Security and Management System. The BS 7799 certification is no longer a differentiator and hence ISO 27001 is a benchmark on Information Security Management System. ISO 27001 replaced the original standard, BS 7799-2. The latter was a long established information security standard.
Some of the international banks/financial institutions, which have been certified under ISO 27001 are Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Mizuho Bank, London, NEC Leasing Ltd and Japan.
