Halim leaves for Ghana tomorrow
Kolkata, Jul 26 (UNI) West Bengal Assembly Speaker Hasim Abdul Halim is leaving for Ghana tomorrow to chair the African Regional Conference of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association for which he was the present Chairman.
Mr Halim told UNI here today on the last day of the Assembly session that as many as ten African nations, including Nigeria, Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia, South Africa and Botswana, would attend the conference, which would be held in the Ghanian capital Accra from July 28 to August 4.
Mr Halim said since assuming the international office last year this was the first such reginal conference dealing exclusively with the problems of African nations under Commonwealth leadership.
He said the final agenda of the week-long meeting was yet to be decided and he planned to hold to chair similar meeting with the Asian and European members of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Associations later this year.
Mr Halim is scheduled to return on August six via Dubai.
